Goal: talk about the future in three ways (will / going to / future perfect), build all three conditional types, write a 200-word "If I were ..." essay. Examined in Test 10 (verb forms), Test 12 (conditionals), Test 14 (future plans letter), Test 16 ("If I were..." essay).
๐ Future forms
- will โ spontaneous decisions, predictions, promises.
- going to โ pre-planned intentions; predictions with evidence.
- present continuous โ fixed arrangements with a time.
- future perfect: will have + V3 โ completed by a future time. Trigger: by + future time.
I will answer the phone. (decision now)
I am going to study medicine. (plan)
I am meeting the principal at 3 p.m. (arrangement)
By 2030 I will have finished my MBBS.
๐ Conditional Type 1 (possible)
- If + present simple, will + verb.
- Real future possibilities.
If it rains, the match will be postponed.
If you study, you will pass.
๐ Conditional Type 2 (unlikely / advice)
- If + past simple, would + verb.
- Use "were" for all persons in formal English.
- Used for imagined present / future, and for ADVICE: "If I were you..."
If I had money, I would build a hospital.
If I were you, I would apologise.
๐ Conditional Type 3 (impossible past)
- If + past perfect, would have + V3.
- Used for regret / what didn't happen.
If I had studied, I would have passed.
If the bus had arrived on time, we would not have missed the train.

- Paragraph (Test 8): 50โ60 words. Future plans โ use "will" + 2 sequencing words.
- Letter / data description (Test 14): ~100 words. Future plans for holidays, careers.
- "If I were ..." essay (Test 16): ~200 words. Strict type-2 conditionals throughout. Hook โ 3 changes โ warm close.
- NEVER "If I will". After if โ present (Type 1) or past (Type 2/3).
